Title: Magnetic Orders in the Pnictides and the Impact of Spin-Orbit Coupling
The iron pnictides represent a new family of unconventional superconductors in which superconductivity appears in close proximity to a magnetically ordered phase. In this talk I will review the magnetic order of the iron pnictides and discuss recent discoveries in the magnetic phase diagram, focusing on the reorientation observed to occur in hole-doped compounds.
I will show that the observed magnetic order can be reproduced using mean-field theory. Considering the impact of magnetic fluctuations on the phase diagram I will argue that spin-orbit coupling has a qualitative impact and even the modest spin-orbit coupling observed in the pnictides cannot be neglected.
