 ron pnictides represent a new family of unconventional superconductors in 
 which superconductivity appears in close proximity to a magnetically order
 ed phase. In this talk I will review the magnetic order of the iron pnicti
 des and discuss recent discoveries in the magnetic phase diagram\, focusin
 g on the reorientation observed to occur in hole-doped compounds.\nI will 
 show that the observed magnetic order can be reproduced using mean-field t
 heory. Considering the impact of magnetic fluctuations on the phase diagra
 m I will argue that spin-orbit coupling has a qualitative impact and even 
 the modest spin-orbit coupling observed in the pnictides cannot be neglect
